A Woman Scorned

Cynthia Shackleford a sixty year old spurned wife, sued her husband’s mistress for almost 9 million, for ruining her  33 year marriage. She evoked a draconian law on the basis that the mistress had “deliberately seduced”  and stole her husband.

Ms Shackelford told the ABC Good Morning America programme.

“My main message is to all those women out there who might have their eyes on some guy that is married . . . as long as a couple are living together as man and wife, same house, same bedroom, same bed: lay off.”

Well it could only happen in the US. What I want to know is whether the husband was chloroformed, handcuffed and dragged kicking and screaming to his lovers arm.

This kind of approach gives the impression that the husband is powerless or a toddler – Aww diddums.

Let’s get real, as the husband says, the marriage was over before he met the other woman (Ms Lundquist).

Not that I’m condoning what he has done but puh – lease – Stolen! He probably jumped into her arms like an over excited puppy. You can only be stolen if you want to be, subject to being held at gun-point of course.

Imagine such a law in the UK – The courts would be flooded and the Kiss and Tell ladies would be redundant. The area surrounding the courts will be so heavy with women, that one would be forgiven for thinking there is some kind of feminist movement going on.

Ms Shackleford looks victorious in the above picture but I wonder if anyone has told her , Ms Lundquist thought the court order was hysterical since she has hardly any cash, and is wondering where the 9 million will come from.

  1. The marriage was over, but he clearly hadn’t told his wife. And did this woman hypnotise him, like a snake charmer, or indeed the snake itself before she put her fangs into him and pumped the poison that made him leave his wife? If I thought it would stop women pursuing married men and married men pursuing just about anything, I’d say she had a great victory, but I fear it will change very little. Hopefully she can spend a little time now looking at the part she played in this so she has a happier future with whoever she finds next – if she wants to.

Mind you, If bringing that law over here put a stop to those kiss and tell girls, I would say it’s a job well done.

Oh, and Sandra Bullock might want to add that to the many options open to her right now.

    • Ha Ha. The man’s an adult. No-one can be taken anywhere unless they want to be taken. Some women are quick to blame the mistress solely and overlook the man who jumped into his mistresses arms without a moments thought about his marriage. Similarly a married woman doing the same. The law would be unworkable if it was used – period – besides it is based on a persons spouse being “property” that can be stolen. In the 21st century many of us would take exception to be regarded as “property”. Like I said it could only happen in the US. Sandra Bollock will have to exercise her scorn some other way as I understand the law will only apply in certain States.

If the wife gets the 9 million, I will regard it as victory – otherwise a fruitless but satisfying exercise. Hat off to her for locating the case law though. A good way of venting her anger and I suspect she has got some satisfaction in publicly humiliating the mistress.
